Reopening Guidelines


Hours of Operation: Month of July

Brad Akins Branch: Monday - Friday 5:00am - 9:00pm Saturday 8:00am - 5:00pm, Closed Sundays for deep cleaning

Bell Family Branch: Monday - Thursday 6:00am - 8:00pm, Friday 6:00am - 7:00pm, Saturday 8:00am - 2:00pm, Closed Sundays


Fourth of July Hours 9:00am - 5:00pm

Wellness Center

  • Must stay at least 6 feet apart
  • Every other piece of equipment
  • Practice social distancing
  • Only every other cardio equipment will be used
  • Members must wipe down equipment before and after use
  • If there is a wait on cardio equipment please limit your time to 30 minutes

Group Exercise

  • Limited group exercise schedule (click here for July schedule)
  • Capacity will be limited for Social distancing
  • Reservation cards required for all classes in Studio A
  • Staff will take time between classes for extra cleaning
  • Yoga participants must bring own mat, block and strap
  • Virtual classes will remain available through Phase IV
  • Limitied Aqua and Silversneaker classes will begin week of June 15th.

Basketball Gym

  • Members must bring their own basketball, no ball checkout available
  • Pick up games permitted so long as social distancing is maintained
  • Members are also required to sanitize ball and hands between games
  • No basketball during group exercise classes

Childwatch & Activities Center

  • Limited hours available (Monday- Friday, 8am-12pm, Monday – Thursday 4pm-8pm) Closed Saturdays
  • 25 people limit per room
  • Extra cleaning and disinfecting measures will be implemented
  • Children must be fed and changed before entering Childwatch
  • Staff will not change diapers
  • If at capacity, members will be limited to 1 hour in Childwatch/Activity Center

Indoor Pool

  • June Hours: Monday-Friday 5am-7:30pm, Saturday 8am-4:30pm
  • Lap swim and Family swim
  • One person per lane, walking lane will be available
  • Time limits may apply based on volume
  • No pool equipment will be available during this Phase
  • Swim lessons will resume the week of June 15th

Outdoor Pool

  • Opens June 1st. Hours: Monday-Friday 10am-7pm, Saturday 10am-4:30pm
  • Time and maximum occupancy limits may be enforced based on volume
  • All members must enter indoor and outdoor pools through pool lobby
  • No outside chairs will be permitted
  • No pool equipment or noodles will be available during this time
  • Pool chairs will be spaced for social distancing (6 feet apart)
  • Sanitation stations will be available at the pool; please sanitize your chairs as you leave
  • Parents must be within arm's reach of children wearing life jackets
  • Parents must stay on deck at all times while children are swimming
  • Wristband policy is in effect for children under 12; must take swim test and wear band
  • No inflatables permitted
  • No cotton or denim permitted in pool
  • 1 person per lane if lap swimming
  • Please observe social distancing between households
  • No guests or away members permitted; current YMCA of Georgia's Piedmont members only

Locker Rooms

  • Must practice social distancing (6 feet apart)
  • Limited number of showers available, please shower and change at home if possible
  • Must spray showers down after use
  • Saunas will remain closed
  • Must wipe down lockers after use

Facility Procedures

  • Members must continue to maintain minimum of 6 feet distance
  • All staff and members will continue to have their temperature checked upon entering the facility
  • Staff will be wearing personal protective equipment
  • Members are encouraged to wear face masks in common areas and during non-cardio activity.
  • Masks do not have to be worn at the outdoor pool
  • Locker rooms and family restrooms will be open
  • Water fountains are closed at this time. Please bring water with you
  • No towel services
  • Coffee will not be available
  • No guests or away members will be permitted. Facility use will only be for current YMCA of Georgia's Piedmont members
  • Saunas will remain closed during Phase III
  • Check your branch for changes in operating hours
  • Members are encouraged to wash hands before and after working out with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
  • Increased signage throughout the building will encourage social distance, hand-washing and remind members to disinfect equipment

We will continue to review these guidelines regularly and communicate changes through email, our website and social media to meet federal, state and local guidelines. We will continue providing virtual resources for our members who are still sheltering at home.
