Swim Lessons at Walton County YMCA

Swim lesson registration is now open for 2025!

What to Bring:

  • Swimsuit and towel
  • Goggles (recommended)
  • Children under age 4 or those not potty-trained must wear a swim diaper (no regular diapers)

All parents are responsible for the safety of their children during swim lessons. Participants ages 12 and under must have a parent on deck at all times.

Group Swim Lessons

Walton County YMCA is now offering Water Discovery, Preschool, and Youth Group Swim Lessons to help children gain confidence, develop water safety skills, and learn to swim in a structured, supportive environment.

Water Discovery for Infants and Toddlers
This program helps young children feel comfortable in the water while developing swim-readiness skills through fun and engaging activities. Parents will also learn important water safety information, drowning prevention techniques, and the importance of supervision.

Preschool Swim Lessons (Ages 3-5)
Children will gain confidence in the water, learn basic swimming skills, and develop safety habits in a fun and encouraging setting.

Youth Swim Lessons (Ages 6-12)
Designed to progress swimmers through different skill levels, youth lessons focus on stroke development, endurance, and water safety.

Private and Adaptive Swim Lessons – Coming Soon

Lifeguard Certification Course – April 2025

The YMCA Lifeguard Certification Course provides essential training for those interested in becoming a certified lifeguard. This course includes instruction in Basic Life Support (BLS), First Aid, Emergency Oxygen Use, and Water Rescue Techniques.

Course Dates:
April 4 – Friday, 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM
April 5 – Saturday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
April 6 – Sunday, 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM
April 12 – Saturday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
April 13 – Sunday, 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Participants must be 16 years old by April 4, 2025, and pass a physical competency test to enroll.
